Edited to add that after posting the original mantel, I thought it looked too barren so I started adding fall like stuff to it. What I believe to be the new and improved mantel is at the end of the post. Thanks for sticking with me.
Ah…Autumn. My favorite season! The cool nights and pleasant days with a nip in the air are a welcome relief after a hot humid summer. Another bonus of autumn is the magnificent color show that Mother Nature puts on.
I try to recreate those colors in my fall decorating although nobody does it like Mother Nature. Today I would like to share my autumn mantel with you.
It is difficult to get a decent picture of the mantel because of the reflection in the mirror of bookshelves that need to be de-cluttered where it is in the room.
The pumpkin and berry filled jar was a gift from my hubby a couple of years ago. It’s fun to change the contents with the changing of the seasons. And yes, that is a peek of a Christmas tree in the background. Has anyone else been an early bird like me?
I was smitten with this set of 3 mercury glass pumpkins when they were featured on QVC.
Is it just me or is that pumpkin in the front smiling at you?
No Autumn mantel is complete without a wise old owl.
Here is the picture of the mantel after my restyling to add some texture. In the reflection of the mirror you can see my dog taking his power nap.
I added a small wreath and some textured balls to the left side.
On the right side I added a chunky distressed candlestick with a wanna be pumpkin.
The final addition was the basketful of corn.
Yes, I do like the mantel more now that I have tinkered with it. I am fairly certain it will see more changes before it get it’s Christmas look.
Autumn mornings: sunshine and crisp air, birds and calmness, year's end and day's beginnings.

Wishing you many beautiful Autumn mornings,
