Deck the Trees with Sparkly Stuff

Well, the plans were to take full length photos of my two Christmas trees and post them.    However, those photos did not turn out so I went to plan B which is to post pictures of ornaments on said trees.

The tree located on the sun porch has mostly bird ornaments on it.

Santa even made a few appearances.

I love the lines on this Santa’s face.    He looks like he has been around the world a few times in an open sleigh.

Let the Flakes Fall Where They May

Today is my birthday and my husband outdid himself this year!!  He knows how much I love anything chippy with the paint flaking off and when he gave me this planter and plant stand I was blown away.  They look right at home on my back porch next to a chippy chair that belonged to my parents.

I filled the plant stand with magnolia leaves, pine cones, and moss covered sticks from the yard.   Still trying to decide what to put in the planter.

ps3

I gifted myself with this precious little winter bird and mossy nest that I found on sale at Trees N Trends.   The bird and nest was set in a bowl that was a TJ Maxx find this past summer and was surrounded by a miniature pearl garland to give the illusion of snow.

Signs of Christmas

Signs of Christmas are scattered throughout my home.   I would love to share a few of them with you.

Shabby Chandelier

I wrote a post earlier this week about a chandelier I found at a yard sale.     This shabby chic beauty was $25.00 which I thought was an excellent price.     It came with a bagful of glass crystals and several pink ceramic roses.

All week long I have “googled” and “binged” chandeliers trying to find a chandy like this  and I finally found a similar one which was described as being from the 1930’s.   I have no way of knowing if my chandelier is actually vintage or not but I would like to think it is.   Regardless I am thrilled to have found it and think it looks perfect above the dining table in our coastal Alabama home.

Do you think it is vintage?

Take care friends.    I hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving!

From Fruitful to Sparkly

On my way to the office Friday morning I stopped at a yard sale even though I knew it would make me  late to work.  Usually I am a conscientious worker, but tempt me with a yard sale and all bets are off.

For some time now, I have wanted to replace this colorful fruity light fixture that came with the house but haven’t had much luck finding the “perfect” one.

SG Chandy

And if I hadn’t stopped at that yard sale, I wouldn’t have found the replacement which is shown here in the back of my car.   The white shabby color was just what I wanted and at the low price of $25.00, I knew this was the one.  I cleaned it up, wrapped it in the crystals that came with it (minus the pink roses), and then my handy hubby installed it for me.

The glass crystals sparkle in the light and help with the open airy feeling I am trying to create in here.

Pumpkin on a Porch

I wasn’t too inspired to decorate for fall until I took a trip to the local produce stand and found myself in pumpkin paradise!

P3

No matter which way you looked, there were pumpkins of all sizes, shapes, and colors.

P1

After leaving all this fabulousness we went to a yard sale where I purchased a plant stand for $5.00.   I knew the perfect spot for it would be my front porch.    The stand was white when I bought it, but the white didn’t show up against the yellow siding on my house so I spray painted it turquoise, made a bow, added a huge pumpkin, a sassy little scarecrow, and a few other things lying around the house.

Both birdhouses were left by the previous owner.     The lantern was a clearance purchase from Lowes last year.

Porch4

The rustic birdhouse has an old nail in it which is being used as a perch.   My hubby says that type of nail has not been manufactured since the early 1900’s.

Porch5

Since I am trying to keep it simple and thrifty this year in my decorating, I think I achieved it.   Thanks for visiting!!

Happy Fall Y’all!
