Farmers Market Finds

Hello friends!   I hope you had a blessed Easter.

I am linking to the Outdoor Wednesday party at A Southern Day Dreamer.

I had a “fruitful” trip to the Farmers Market on Good Friday.      I purchased fresh Louisiana strawberries, Lady Cream Peas and fresh asparagus, all of which were served at my Easter lunch.      In addition to the fruit and veggies, I bought a few plants.

This is a black eyed Susan vine.     It is already blooming!

Love the colors on this firecracker vine.   This is my first time to buy one of these.    Hope I can keep it alive.

I also bought some zinnias, coleus, sweet potato vine, and superbells (calibrachoa) and planted them in pots by my mailbox.

In comparison, here is my neighbor’s mailbox.    Her clematis is blooming profusely.    She is such a show off!

While snapping photos of the mailbox, this cat got spooked by my dog (who never saw her) and ran up my sweet gum tree.    I don’t know where this cat lives, but we have already rescued her once before out of one of our trees.

A couple of my hibiscus are blooming.     I kept them alive all winter long in the greenhouse.

Thank you for stopping by to visit.    Please come back soon.

Bath time

Every day around 6:30 p.m. I have a visitor in my backyard who takes a bath.    Today, I was waiting with camera in hand to catch him in the act.    These pictures were taken from my sun porch through double paned glass so they aren’t the best quality.

I didn’t have to wait too long before Mr. Bluejay arrived for his nightly ritual.

You haven’t splashed all the water out yet so dive in again.

This picture is blurry, but it was the only one where I was able to capture the splashing of water.

After Mr. Bluejay departed, a mourning dove took her bath and then a blue bird.     The light was fading so I couldn’t get their picture.    Apparently this was the happening place to be tonight for all our feathered friends.

Moving on to another section of the yard, I see Mr. and Mrs. Cardinal stopping by their evening meal.     Please ignore the junk in the background….I have added cleaning the yard to my honey’s to  do list.

Thank you for stopping by.    I hope you enjoyed spending time with me and my feathered friends.

Have a good week!

Bunnies & Glitter

Oh my goodness.   Easter snuck up on me this year.    Usually I pull out my Easter décor at least a month before the holiday, but that did not happen this time.     So, I decided to scale back and just decorate in my kitchen.

I have a small but growing collection of bunnies.      They are currently multiplying  on my open kitchen shelving along with the glitter houses I bought on clearance at Kroger last year.

This sweet bunny was a Marshalls find a couple of years ago.   She was on clearance for $3.00.

This is my glam bunny.    She has a lace collar, is glittery all over and is rocking that  basket of eggs.     I found her at a gift shop in Fairhope, AL.   She was not on clearance, but that’s okay.    She was worth it.

Love the little glitter church with the bell tower purchased on clearance at Krogers for $2.00.

All of the glitter houses are surrounded by bottle brush trees.

The bunny plate was purchased at Cracker Barrel last year after Easter for 75% off.     Love the basket weave look along the scalloped edges.

My only new Easter purchase for the season was the glitter birds and birdhouse ornaments  from Pier One.     I already had the Easter tree.    They are perched on an Easter place mat on my round glass table on the sun porch.

And last, but certainly not least, is my moss bunny that I purchased at Trees N Trends for around $3.00.

I will be linking to the following parties.

Sunshine on a Stem

I was recently shopping at Ross and came across this precious tin bucket with handles for the low price of $6.99.   Loved the colors and the worn look of the tin and since sunflowers are my favorite flower, this baby came home with me!

In this close up you can see the watering can.

Here you can see the wording “Sunshine on a stem” and some random numbers.

While I loved the tin as is, I felt that it needed something.    I  spent hours creating this floral arrangement  got lucky and found this pre-made sunflower arrangement at Old Time Pottery for $14.99.

Ta Da!    It fit perfectly!

The final touch was the addition of the bunny on a stick that came from Pier One.

I am so happy with the way it turned out….it really makes me smile and I think it looks pretty darn good for under $25.

Thank you for stopping by and visiting.    I will be partying with these awesome, talented women and hope that you will visit them also.
