Going Coastal

Saturday was a wash out here and the dreary non-stop rain apparently unleashed an urge in me to get crafty.     Back in the summer I bought a shadow box for a dollar at a garage sale.    It took several months before inspiration hit on how I was going to transform it from drab brown to something fab-u-lous.

The first step was to cover the green matting in the back with some burlap that was left over from another project.

My favorite color this week is turquoise so I painted the box a gorgeous blue that reminds me of the sea.    It turned out a little too bright so I sandpapered it.  I filled it with some vintage lures that I recently purchased from a grumpy old man at a flea market.     He seemed real taken aback when I picked out the lures based on their color (who knew there were polka dotted lures?) and asked me if these were to fish with or if these were to look at.     I told him right quick these were to look at.   These lures are too pretty to fish with.

My coastal vignette is a work in progress but this will give you an idea of where I am going with it.    I may have to take this fab-u-lous shadow box to the grumpy old man and show him how it turned out.   HA!

Thank you for visiting today.    I hope you have a fab-u-lous week!

In the spirit of going coastal, I will be linking to Nifty Thrifty Tuesday @ Coastal Charm.

This is adorable. The colour is wonderful and highlights the lures perfectly.
