The Gardens of Seaside

My Florida vacation is over and reality has returned with a vengeance but it hasn’t stopped me from dreaming of white sandy beaches and aqua colored water.

We were staying in Sandestin and one day took a trip to Seaside.   It was HOT HOT HOT but we managed to find a shady area near the town center where we discovered quaint little gardens.

dragonfly  A pink dragonfly graced the center of this well manicured garden.

This garden was outside a shop called A Paris Apartment.    It may be difficult to see because of the glare, but the statue in front of the demilune table is the Bird Girl statue made famous by the book and movie of the same title “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil” set in Savannah, Georgia.     If you haven’t read the book or seen the movie, I highly recommend you check it out.

I fell madly in love with this display of pottery under the rusted chandelier.

sign

I will close with this Escape Artist sign….hilarious!

Thank you for visiting today and taking a trip with me to Seaside, Florida.   Enjoy the rest of your week and stay cool!

Thanks for taking me along to Ruskin Place at Seaside! I love Seaside and we try to go every year, staying there or in Seagrove right next to it. Hope you were able to pay a visit to Newbill's By the Sea (the shop at the end that has the spinners hanging from the tree). That's where I got my "Mad Gardener" sign that's in one of my blog posts.

sigh -- I long for the beach.

We were just in Seaside in July. We fell in love with the area when our son married there 2 years ago. Hot? Oh yes, it was hot but just love the color of the water.

Hi! I found your blog over at Linda's "Coastal Charm"....and did YOU ever find some charming places at the coast. Thank you for sharing those beautiful pictures of Seaside. My blog profile picture was taken last year (when I was skinnier and tanner) when we were at Santa Rosa Beach which is between Sandestin and Seaside. Isn't that just a gorgeous area?
