Old Blue Eyes

At a recent estate sale, I purchased an old 3 drawer chest for $20.   When I got it home, the chest took on a new personality and began creeping me out by staring me down with its big blue eyes!   Since the sinister look is not my decorating style, I went for a slightly distressed casual coastal feel.

I had the paint supplies and décor on hand so all this cost me was the $20 I paid for the chest which is now functioning as my night stand.

Oh and just in case you were wondering, here is a picture of Old Blue Eyes giving me one last look before the re-do.

Thank you so much for visiting today!

Birdseed Buffet

As I recover from back surgery, I often find myself on the sun porch watching the playful antics of the birds and squirrels in the yard.   We feed the birds year round and I was delighted to see this group peacefully dining together at our birdseed buffet.

IndigoBunting2

Our first guest attending the all you can eat buffet was this incredibly beautiful indigo bunting.

News of the buffet quickly spread and the bunting was soon joined by a sparrow.

And then another.

When the cardinal flew in, he totally disrupted the tranquility and harmony of the group.   He looks as if he is saying “Excuse me!   Can’t you see I am eating here?   Would you please not take my picture while my mouth is full?”

I wish it was as easy to feed my hungry bunch as it is to feed the birds!

Thanks for visiting and please feed the birds!

Riding on the River

On a warm day you can often find  my sweetie and I out in the boat  just riding around checking out the wild life.    This past weekend we were blessed with many pelican sightings.

This guy was cruising along with us.

Pelican2

I don’t think this one even knew we were there.

Pelican3

It looks like this couple just had a spat.

Thanks for joining our pelican watching expedition.

Making Out Like a Bandit

This past weekend the sun was shining, the temp was in the 70’s,  the yard sales were in abundance,  and I made out like a bandit!

My first score was a vintage soup/sauce tureen with ladle for one dollar.

Tureen

This vintage flower pot  had me at yellow.  Lots of crazing on this charming piece which has an attached saucer.   Once again all it took for this to come home with me was a one dollar bill.

Pot

And now ladies and gentlemen… the deal of the day…a three light metal chandelier for two dollars!!!   This baby is going over the bathtub as soon as I can get my sweetie to install it!

Chandy2

Four dollars total for one tureen, one flower pot, and one chandelier.  It was a good day in yard sale land.

Thank you for visiting!!
